The Railways Pension Scheme has created a load of great new resources to welcome new members to the Scheme. And existing members won’t miss out because much of this new material is available to them too.
Starting this week, every new member of the Scheme will receive a smart new package of user-friendly RPS information.
It’s to give new members a better understanding of their pension and make it much easier for them to plan for a comfortable life after they’ve finished work. We think many of these new resources will be really useful to existing members as well, so we’ve specifically designed some to be available to all.
- New joiners to the Scheme will now receive a short, smart Welcome Pack in the post. This will give them all the basic information they need, like their Pension Reference Number, the name of their Section, a guide to activating their online account, as well as useful tips to help make the most of their membership. These packs are designed to be kept handy as they’ll be helpful for speedy reference.
- There’s also a new Welcome Video. It’s a 3-minute, whistle-stop tour of the Scheme. We’d highly recommend it to all new members. But existing RPS members are encouraged to watch the welcome video too. They can find it in the Video Library. It will remind them of all the features and planning tools that the Railways Pension Scheme offers and to urge them to think more about their lives after work.
- And there’s more good stuff… we’ve now created 2 bright, engaging RPS Good to Know Guides – one for DB members and another for IWDC members. It takes members on a pension journey right through to retirement, and explains everything in between.
These Good to Know Guides have been based around common questions that members have. The contents are listed briefly at the start of each chapter. Members can just link directly to the subjects that interest them and check out the guide whenever they need to. It’s not necessary to read the whole document in one go.
Members can access the new video and their Good to Know Guide from their member dashboard once they’ve activated and logged into their online myRPS account by following the ‘Welcome to the Scheme’ link. The Good to Know Guides are also available on the Read as You Need page.
We guarantee all members of the RPS, both new joiners and old timers, will find these new, engaging guides and video a really handy resource.
If members need detailed information on their own specific pension, they should register or log in to their online myRPS account and then check their Member Guide, under the ‘My Library’ area.
