The Railways Pension Scheme (RPS) celebrated its 25th anniversary on 1 October 2019.

The Industry-Wide Defined Contribution (IWDC) Section of the Railways Pension Scheme has successfully received master trust authorisation from The Pensions Regulator.

When the Investment Transformation Programme started in 2013, all asset management was outsourced. Now the internal team at RPMI Railpen manage more than half the £29 billion of assets directly.

The next Queen’s Speech is expected to include a Pensions Bill to progress items from the government’s pension agenda and items that had been included in the 2018 White Paper, titled “Protecting defined benefit pension schemes”.
